Lent 2015

Who remembers what they gave up for lent last year?  Not I!  However, I did learn one thing last year and that was that lent isn't just about giving something up.  It's also about adding something positive in your life.  For those of you that aren't familiar with lent here is the wikipedia definition:

Lent (Latin: Quadragesima - English: Fortieth) is a solemn religious observance in the liturgical calendar of many Christian denominations that begins on Ash Wednesday and covers a period of approximately six weeks before Easter Sunday.

If that didn't help you to understand in a nut shell Lent consists of 40 days of giving up something in sacrifice to the Lord.

This year I plan to add 2 things to my life and take away 1

I want to add daily prayer in my life.
why?

I always feel like my day goes better if I take a moment to talk to God.  It helps to calm my nerves and get life back into perspective.  My motto for 2015 has been "I'm just waiting to get on the other side"  I developed this back in January and it just means "trouble won't last always".  Every trial and tribulation has an end and you just have to stick it out.  SO I'm just sticking it out in this life of mine.

I want to add consistency to my life.
why?

I always start things and keep it going for a while then all it takes is one little disturbance and I am thrown off.  So three things that I want to get more consistent about are the following:
  1. eating healthy
  2. going to the gym
  3. my daily beauty routine (hair/make up/vitamins)

I want to take away candy and eating out/fast food.
why?

Even tho I bake, I rarely eat baked goods.  Now CANDY is another monster.  Give me some peach rings or sour gummy candy and it's game over.  Also, I don't eat out a lot but when I do it's the worst thing that I could get.  Most of the time I will end up getting fast food after a frustrating day or when I'm just too tired to think of what I want to cook.  To be honest, those are just excuses I give myself to splurge and that must come to an end.

After Lent ends, I will update you guys on how well I did.

What are you giving up for lent?
