Product Review- Lush Dark Angels

Product: Lush Dark Angels

Price: 12.95 at LUSHusa.com

Promises: Black sugar and charcoal gently exfoliate and absorb excess oils to leave dull, oily or acne-prone skin feeling fresh and matte. Even oily skin can be sensitive, so we've made this one soft and soothing to calm redness and irritation, too. Its rhassoul mud base deep-cleanses to help prevent breakouts while vitamin rich cold-pressed organic avocado oil nourishes skin to leave it soft and lightly hydrated. Use all over for perfectly smooth, bright skin. An angel indeed!

Directions: Apply to desired area and smooth with fingertips for desired hold.

Ingredients:Rhassoul Mud, Cold Pressed Avocado Oil (Persea gratissima), Glycerine, Powdered Charcoal, Black Sugar (sucrose), Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Fragrance, Sandalwood Oil (Santalum album), Rosewood oil (Aniba rosaeodora),*Linalool, *Farnesol

My Review: I first started using LUSH dark angels around January 2014.  I just so happen to start an all natural face wash routine so I figured LUSH would be a good place to find something good for my skin.  Now I struggle with melasma so I brought that to the attention of the LUSH employee when they started showing me facial cleansers.  I made sure to tell them I wanted something with lightening/brightening effects and also provided exfoliation.  They quickly pointed me to dark angels.  I have used this product consistently since then and I absolutely love it.  It has not lightened my melasma but I feel as though it gives my skin a glow and it takes off my make-up very well at the end of the night.  Now I must mention that I only use this as an exfoliating cleanser 3-4 times a week.  I use a different cleanser in the morning because I feel like this would dry my skin with overuse.

The only con I have to using this cleanser is that it is very messy.

Staple?: Most DEFINITELY

What's your favorite exfoliating cleanser?

My Review:

I'm not sure why but I really enjoy facial masks and try new ones pretty regularly. Something about a product making your face tighten makes me feel like my face is clean. Weird I know. I picked this particular mask up on a whim at Ross, mostly because for 2.99 for 7 fl oz, it seemed worth a try.

Take Aways:

  • Light pleasant smell. Kind of perfumey but smells fresh and really good
  • Affordable
  • Great ingredients--green tea & avocado
  • Doesn't dry out your skin but leaves it feeling fresh and clean
  • Creamy, and thin layer is all that is needed
  • Tightens skin slightly
  • Perhaps only draw back is you have to sort of plan to use it and wash off really well. If you put it on then get in the shower the moisture (steam) in the shower will prevent the mask from tightening. This timing factor is the sole reason why I rarely end up using this mask 2-3 times a week.

Would I recommend this product to a friend? Yes, I think it works well and I like to use it 2-3 times a week (if I remember in enough time). I love the smell and the way it makes my face feel fresh and clean which I don't get sometimes with other cleansers. It was definitely worth the $3 bucks!
